We all have seen Pakistan play in the Olympic of cricket and now in the test series where the nation is a tourist in Bangladesh. We wonder where aggression of the team has gone. The team that used to be top seed slowly seems giving way to easily against all cricketing nations – old and new alike. A draw against Bangladesh at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in first test is the most recent and prominent showpiece of Pakistan’s decaying cricket.
The first test that ended in a draw has some real good points Bangladesh can take home -better play by the opening batting pair and an above par performance of bowlers who managed to tame the Pak batsmen to some extent. The opening pair of the host team, Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal, in the first game looked in great form as both players held the line well and hit unbeaten centuries, making nation's highest partnership record for any wicket as Bangladesh drew with the visitors.
Having learnt their lesson the hard way, Pakistan were in good form in the second and final Test at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium. First innings of the final test was a display of exceptional batting by Pakistan middle order. While Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq scored a ton each, Azhar Ali slammed a double century helping visitors to score 557 which seemed (and later proved) pretty unachievable on the part of Bangladesh.
Incredible partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque the team took the Bangladesh team forward, but the team couldn’t recover from the first innings deficit and only strived all the while to register their first clean sweep against the visitors, which was not to happen. Bangladesh was comprehensively defeated, and Pakistan took away the hours of being the test champions.
