In wake of the ongoing controversy between BCCI and Ten Sports, BCCI has decided to call off the forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe, since Ten Sports is official broadcaster for Zimbabwe cricket.

According to reports, the decision to call off the scheduled tour of Zimbabwe was taken not only because of the ongoing tussle for broadcasting rights, but also to provide some rest to the fatigued Indian team players, who have been playing continuous international cricket for the last six seven months.

Alongside this, the Indian board is also finding it a difficult to provide visa on arrival to its players, which can also be included in the list of reasons for calling off the tour.

India was scheduled to tour Zimbabwe for a three match ODI series and a two match Twenty20 series beginning July 10.

It is worth noting here that BCCI has been having issues with Ten Sports for quite some time now. The problems began in 2004 when BCCI cancelled bidding, in which Essel Group owned Zee Telefilms was the highest bidder, of telecasting matches to be played in the period between 20014-08. This provoked a legal battle between the Essel Group and BCCI.

The problems have compounded since Essel Group attempted to form its own parallel world cricket governing body.

BCCI and Zimbabwe are trying to come to a consensus on postponing the series to next year.

Alongside the Zimbabwe tour, the broadcasting issues can also come in the way of bilateral series between India Pakistan slated to be played in UAE in December. Pakistan Cricket Board has provided Ten Sports with rights to broadcast its matches, something which is not going to go well with BCCI if their issues with Ten Sports are not sorted.
